XB Lego Star Wars - Software Publisher's Description:
XB Lego Star Wars review:5 stars (Adorable, this game is! Hints I have, yeeess!) - The story mode for the game was easy (two hours tops!!). But the real challenge was finding all the minikit and the superkit (blockade runner) as well as getting enough studs to unlock everything (including a playable level from the first movie [note: I don't refer to it as Episode 4]). It's fun for both kids and adult alike. Being a Star Wars fan and someone who loved LEGOs as a kid, I got a real kick out of this game. Nonfans may rate it a little lower, but not by much. The graphics are great and just plain adorable. It stay true to the movies and has quite a few "tongue in cheek" moments in the story portions. Also note, some of the minikit pieces are hard to find (especially in the droid foundry and count dooku levels of Ep 2). My advice is when you start those 2 levels is to look behind you! It's out of camera range when you start but trust me it's there. Also the beach head part of the Kashykk level, pull out all three carots (it may take some time but you'll find them) and a minikit will apere on the big boulder to your right. Hope you found the review and hints helpful. "Pass on what you have learned."5 stars (Quite fun, great graphics!) - I really thought this game looked silly at first - but once I got to playing it, it's amazingly fun! You get All Three new Episodes of the movies with this game!
The little lego guys are absolutely adorable, and when ships blow up, they disintegrate into their component lego parts. Lego fans will be thrilled to see little lego flowers, lego swinging doors, and much more.
The game is pretty true to the story line, which is funny in and of itself, watching the famous Star Wars scene done lego-style. You jump, shoot and light-saber your way through the scenes. You get to use a variety of characters, and each character of course has his or her own special talents.
There's a lot of coin-collecting, secret-finding and bad guy bashing. There's an optional two player mode which is great - someone else can grab a controller, play for a while, then drop out without any penalty at all. There's a regular story mode for going through the movie plotline, plus a free play where you can randomly switch between various players to solve some of the trickier puzzles.
There's a good deal of replayability as you go back searching for the treasures, and trying to unlock all of the cool extra features. This is really perfect for the munchkins, but adults may find themselves playing it after the little ones are asleep because it's actually rather fun.
I was impressed with the graphics too - the little legos walk as you might imagine they would, the floors shine with great reflections, the textures are just very nice. There isn't much sound besides the Star Wars themes going on in the background :)
I didn't have any problems with crashes at all, and if I ever do get bored with it, there's a line of people waiting to get it from me next.
Highly recommended!4 stars (Finally, an awesome title for kids and parents) - This game is a great game for parents to play with their kids or even kids of varying levels to play togethor. The price may be on the high side but games that are so well tuned to kids play yet still fun for grownups don't come along very often.
The purpose of this game is to find and collect things as you work your way through the level. Once you complete a level you can go back and play it any number of times in free play mode. This is important as you won't be able to find and unlock everything in story mode.
Individual lego peices constitue money and the money can be spent on unlocking additional characters or game enhancements (mustaches, purple lightsabers, invincibility). Canisters contain pieces to little lego ships that get built and live in the parking lot. Special blue sparkly lego pieces constitute 'jedi ability' and gain you pieces to an additional special lego ship.
It is not easy to find all the canisters and sparkly blue things and will require a couple trips through a given level. In freeplay mode you can play any unlocked character and switch between them. This becomes crucial to solving puzzles to obtain 'stuff'.
'Killing' an enemey means breaking them into little lego bits. The significant majority of the enemy are 'robots' of some form or another. As the parent of sensitive 4 and 6 year olds this is very good.
Each player has unlimited lives. You get four hearts per life although new hearts are usually readily availalble. Losing a life means losing some of the points that you had collected so far in the level. You never lose canisters or sparkly blue things. That means that having your little one play along with you adds no stress since they can't impede overall progress. That in itself is just awesome. The ability for either player to pop in or out at any point adds to the low stress inclusion factor.
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that the camera isn't controllable and that sometimes that makes for akward play as somethings you can't see your characters or the stuff they need to do.
There is a ton of stuff to unlock in this game all of which are fun. Seeing the little lego people duke it out is fun, as is seeing the in game lego creations. Star wars fans will especially love this as the various levels cover scenes from all three movies.
I just wish I could get my wife to play this... XB Lego Star Wars Features: Star Wars (Starwars) Video Games Xbox (x box) Microsoft Action Adventure XBox ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) Family
