Spider-Man 2 review:5 stars (Spidey does it again!) - Spider-man 2 for the PS2 is awsome!!!!!!!!!! not only does it follow the movie story line but also includes a few other villians like mysterio Black Cat The Rhino and Dock Ock (of course). The game starts with you spider-man (duh) and the narriator guy is tellin you all the controlls what to do and not to do. The Web slinging is 100% better then the first game's. In the first spider-man game all you had to do was hold down a button and there you go, but in this game you can pull of all these tricks in the air and hold down the jump button so you can reach extreme hights! the combat as in fighting the bad guys is ok, not the best but you can pull of all these awsome moves like webbing the guy up to a street post. you also have a spider-sense which alows you to become in a slow motion type of style. you can pull off cooler moves and nail the bady's harder in spider-sense. thats really all i can think about...my advice is to BUY THIS GAME!!! you will get sick of it after like a couple of months but those coouple of months will be worth your money...4 stars (A massive improvement over the first game) - Spider-Man 2 (2004.) The game based on the film of the same name.
Both of the Spider-Man live-action films released in recent years were nothing short of excellent. It's thanks to those films that I ultimately became a fan of Spider-Man in general. And, sure enough, both films had massive marketing campaigns. Included in the campaigns were video games, sure enough. The first film's video game was disappointing, being a painfully generic full-3D adventure that had potential, but never really went anywhere. Needless to say, a game based on the second film was also released. Does it improve on its predecessor. To find out, just keep on reading.
To put it in the simplest terms possible, this game IS a massive improvement over its disappointing predecessor. The first thing you'll notice is that the basic concept of the game is largely fixed. Rather than boring, clunky linear paths, you now get to freely explore Manhattan Island, accomplishing missions to gain points, and battling classic Spidey villains along the way (It's kind of like Grand Theft Auto, but you're on the side of the law.) This gives the game somewhat of a non-linear structure, giving you some freedom. Being able to web-sling through the city is extremely fun. The control scheme has also gotten a massive overhaul, and all for the better, too. The new scheme is better, and easier to learn, too. I found myself doing a whole lot of fighting with the camera in the first game, and thankfully, that's not the same story here! With assorted events and a storyline that goes beyond the movie, you'll be busy for quite some time. Of course, the game is far from perfect. The biggest problem with this game is its overall redundant nature. Although there are plenty of challenges and events to participate in, they're all pretty much the same, and this may make you bored with the game faster than you might like. Another flaw is the graphics in cut scenes - the first game had MUCH better cut scene graphics - these look like they belong on the Nintendo 64! This is a very good game, desoite the flaws, arguably the best game to ever feature the Spider-Man name.
In recent times, this game has been rereleased as a Playstation 2 Greatest Hits title, resulting in a massive price drop! If you're a Spidey fan and you don't have this yet, now's the time to make the purchase!
And that's it. Spider-Man 2 is a massive improvement over the game based on the first Spider-Man film, as anyone will tell you. Activision has taken the potential the first game had, and exploited it in pretty much every good way possible. If you're a Spider-Man fan, this game is well worth your time.4 stars (Lizard and Black Cat) - I have been playing this game for days straight and I have to say it is well made. The swinging and diving is the best part.
Some things that were a bummer is that Lizard IS NOT in the game. One of the help markers says that it is just a rumor and not true. And I know that this is not in the comic but I wanted Spiderman to begin dating Black Cat and dump his other girlfriend. Lol. Another bummer is I wish spiderman could swim. I mean anyone really could learn to swim and if you were a hero you should. Lastly the fact that you can't get to the other island from the bridge.
