PS2 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory review:3 stars (Really fun until the robot part.) - I have read the book and watched the old movie so I decided to rent the game. At first it was really fun until you got to the robot part. These robots have an ingredient in them that stops a beem (which of course you have to stop the beem),well I wondered how do I get the ingredient into the beem?! I asked grandpa Joe he said to put the robots into the beem. There's only one BIG problem. YOU CAN'T GET A ROBOT INTO THE BEEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!believe me I tried!!!!!!! I then thought I know I'll use wiggle sweets (which luers enemies)and they didn't work worth a CRUD! I then told my mother "you can take this game back unless I change my mind(like in a million years). "Then I thought I Know I"ll use a cheat code, well the game just came out so there were only a few, which I couldn't use those anyway!! So if you really want to play this game I recomend renting it like I did(but after what I said I wouldn't blame you if you don't want to try it at all.)I took 1 star from fun and 2 stars from overall because of the robot part.4 stars (Very Involved ) - It is okay if this game is involved because that is what makes it more challenging and fun. For example, it takes many things to do just to fix one problem. Like any other involved game, it gets tougher and more fun to play. Johnny Depp does not do the voice of Willy Wonka, but he sounds similar to Depp. The graphics for the game are neat, too. I think the kid who plays Charlie also does his voice in this. The outdoor setting looks like England: Very snowy, overcast skies, and a candy shop which starts the entire thing. Wonkabots are enemies in the factory that chase you and try to shock you, and many different oompa-loompas lurk around such as electricians, and several others. That goes for the candy-related powers you obtain: Rock candy, bubble gum, Everlasting Gobstoppers and "spinners" help you in their own ways through a conflict. This is a good game but it gets tough and more challenging, depending on how much farther you get. Bon Voyagee! 4 stars (A game of pure imagination....) - I am a grown man. I have always enjoyed the first Willy Wonka movie. I have yet to see the new movie. But, if it's anything like this game, it's not all that different. A very similar plotline gives us older folks (35) a chance to sort of exist inside the story we grew up with. But, the gameplay experience is much too simplistic for an adult. Shame. The movie's always kind of been for the adults really. I decided to play it with my son. Now, there was an enjoyable experience. Extremely colorful, and chocked full of mini games. The Factory is alive with things to see and do. A large assortment of logical puzzles as well as quick button mashing games. Quite long as well. It is entertaining. But, Johnny Depp is not doing the voiceover for Willy Wonka. You'll be surprised to hear that it is James Taylor. For us old fogies, he's an incredible singer from thousands of years ago ;-). You really can't go wrong with this, though. It's very magical.
