NDS Kirby Canvas Curse review:5 stars (Kirby is back!) - This is the best game for the Nintendo DS so far. It is a game that is challenging, addictive, and simply fun just like the rest of the Kirby platformers.
With the touch of your stylus, you take Kirby the pink ball rolling on your rainbow path, defeating bad guys by touching them, and copying abilities from those bad guys.(For ex, a wheel, fire ball, a balloon.) In each 8 worlds there is 3 levels and in those levels you must collect 3 red coins for the medal swap option. (The medal swap option enables you to unlock songs, health and others.)
After you finish the game there is also a rainbow run you can finish in each level for time trials, or ink trials (using the least ink as possible.) And for beating these you get more medals for the medal swap. There is also subgames to beat.
Overall, this game is fantastic, super, and amazing. With such a simple game, it is one of the funnest. Go Nintendo!4 stars (A terrific idea for a game, lots to do, a little frustrating...) - This seems like one of the first games for the DS that gets it pretty much right. It's a well thought out game, with a lot to it. You use the stylus to draw paths to get Kirby through all kinds of levels, picking up stars along the way. You make Kirby go faster by poking him, and by making twirls in the path, and you can pick up the abilities of enemies, as in other Kirby games. There are medals in each level which are harder to get than what you would have to do just to get through the levels, and these can be used to unlock mini games and special features, like different colored ink to color the lines you draw. When you have completed a level, you can go back and do it again as a race, or as a contest to use very little "ink". It's a lot of fun figuring out each level, and the boss stages are GREAT---they are quite different than the regular game, and feature things like a breakout type game, a memory game and a connect the dots game!
My only comment is that the game gets hard very fast for the average gamer. My son is quite good at most video games, but he gave up on this one rather quickly as he just couldn't advance. There are times you have to draw something exactly right with split second timing, and if you don't, you don't go on. I kept trucking away but still eventually gave up on getting further, even though I devoted some time to the game. It's great for a game to be challenging, but it's also nice if you can get somewhere with some work!
Don't let that discourage you from buying this if you are looking for a good DS game, however. There are NOT that many good DS games out there, and I think this is one you will be playing for a long time to come---there is so much to unlock, such variety in the ways the levels can be played, and it's a lot of fun to look at, too!4 stars (Review of the pink ball) - Kirby has been in a long generation of Games Few good Most bad I am a huge kirby fan i have all his games but i cant say i liked them all. But this one is an acception. The DS did a great job of using the pointer thing. You would use it as a Rainbow line to guide kirby around and up and down kirbys enemies. The Game was very well done. But i excpected Better Graphics from the new Nintendo DS system it was very well done. I give it 4 Stars overall NDS Kirby Canvas Curse Features: Video Games Nintendo 64 (Nintendo64) N64 Nintendo DS Rating Pending Family/Action
