Manhunt review:5 stars (Better than San Andreas!!!) - The main complaint about San Andreas is it's repetitive. I say if you want a great game, get one that only repeats the best points! This game is repetitive, but it's all about killing and gore. SA gets too wrapped up in its uninteresting story. Manhunt has a great, gritty story. It doesn't interfere with the actual time playing the game though, as the cutscenes are short. San Andreas had long cutscenes, which isn't always a bad thing, but they were boring. San andreas is too much of a comedy, as was vice city. Manhunt is more ruthless than GTA3. GTA3 was almost as gritty, but not quite. I think the Warriors(coming to ps2 and xbox) is going to be great, also. I wish they would make GTA Carcer City!!!5 stars (Depths of Madness) - Simply put, if you are disturbed by high levels of violence, crude humor and severe adult dialogue, don't bother picking this one up.
Behind it all lies an intense game filled with edge-of-your-seat thrills and action. Action in a stealth game? Yeah, believe it or not.
Because of how careful you must be to not alert your foes, this may be one of the scariest games ever. While Splinter Cell is more sophisticated, this is pure urban madness. To stalk the city with all eyes looking for you is unnerving. To stand in the shadows as a dubious fellow walks by only a couple feet away sets all nerves a' blaze.
Some levels may take quite a long time to finish simply because you must...MUST...figure out the best way to eliminate (or possibly avoid) your enemies. Otherwise, you will wind up dead as a result of a stampede of racist thugs, lunatic weirdos or grizzled militants beating you to a pulp.
The language, imagery and the chill you get from the director speaking in your ear only adds to this marvelous trek into the human psyche. Enjoy yourself as you kill...or be killed.
4 stars (Was Okay For A While) - First, I don't know what the big controversy is over this game. It's gory, but the gore is not even remotely realistic. It's presented as being viewed through a camcorder, which I guess is supposed to make up for the fuzzy graphics, but even so it's still pretty cartoonish. Anyone who plays this game and then goes out and does something violent had problems long before this game was around. Second, I don't know why everyone says the game sucks. Actually I think I do know. It's the same reason that a lot of people hate Hitman, Splinter Cell, Thief, etc.: You _HAVE_ to use stealth in this game, there's no way to be successful without it. You will get your butt kicked very quickly if you face your attackers head on. If you like sneaking around type games, and I do, you will probably like Manhunt. With that said, I do have to say it started to get a little old around 2/3 of the way through, and I'm going to take my sweet time finishing it. I'm glad I didn't pay $50 for it (I only pay full price for Halo, Splinter Cell and GTA games), but as a used game it provided reasonable entertainment value.
