Lego Star Wars - Software Publisher's Description:
Lego Star Wars review:5 stars (56 Carecters at your comand) - This Game is asome. You can Play as 8 difrent clones and 6 diferent Battel Droids. When it said Epi. I, II, III...NEWS FLASH EPI.I, II, III, IV!You can play as a Reabl And Leia. Bye I got Play as Qeean Amidalla!3 stars (Requires Administrator Privileges to Run) - You will not be able to run this game in a user account that hasn't been granted administrator rights. I have an account for each of my children and myself and none of these accounts run with administrator privileges. That is one of the best ways to prevent viruses and worms from infecting my PC and it allows me to limit the amount of time my kids play on the computer. Requiring Administrator privileges to run the game bypasses all of those protections. This is sloppy design work on the part of Eidos and/or Giant Software.
I would have returned the game immediately, but this was a birthday present for my son and, as mentioned before, many stores will not take back opened software.
I also had problems with the poorly specified video card requirements. It seems silly to say that it requires "Pixel shader" support when you can't find out whether any particular video card supports that or not. I purchased two different video cards to get the thing to work (after $70 and a generous CompUSA return policy).
In the end, the kids love the game, but I keep thinking that there are plenty of other games out there that they would love just as much and wouldn't have caused me several days of grief as I tried to get the game to work.5 stars (My kids love this game) - granted, they're 4 and 6.5....but they'd play it all day if i would only let them. personally, i think the concept of doing star wars in a lego format is interesting (and the characters are cute to boot :-) and the animation is well done. but that could also be because of the ages of my children and my being used to such things...lol i would recommend this for the younger star wars fans and my rating is based on my boys reaction to the game...
