Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls review:5 stars (BEST FINAL FANTASY ON GAME BOY SP!!!!) - I love the final fantasy series!I think this is a great classic final fantasy game.Plus with new stuffin the 2 games.I WANT THIS GAME NOW!!!!!1 stars (Fianl Fantasy I & 2 Dawn of Souls - slow, stagnant, boring) - A good video game should 1. require eye/hand coordination 2. allow you to get in a "zone" where you enjoy the faster pace and increased level of difficulty of obstacles 3. be hard enough so that you cannot master the game in days but not so hard as to keep you stuck on one screen for a week
Final Fantasy I & II fails at all three. The game is slow and repetitive. Meanial tasks such as just finding your way out of a cave can be extremely difficult. Also, you must power up / gain levels buy engaging in mini-conflicts throughout the game. These conflicts require NO eye / hand coordination, are extremely tedious and occur about, oh, every 1.5 seconds. If you enjoy games that keep you moving and require "gaming" skills, stay away from this game. I enjoy the idea of a "Fantasy" concept, but, personally, I would much rather read Tolkein than spend 5 hours running around in circles trying to find an exit from just one screen of this game.5 stars (Two great games) - The two first Final Fantasy's are fun to play. The graphics are all old-style, because it is an old game, but they have their simplistic charm. The gameplay is simple: fight the bad guys, help the good guys, and get the treasure. But there are many puzzles in both 1 and 2, which aren't hard enough to totally stump you but still difficult enough to make you think. This game is a great buy for long trips.
