Far Cry review:5 stars (Excellent FPS that challenges your skills) - For the current price, this FPS is a must for anyone looking to fill in the space for the next update to MOH. The storyline is fun and the weapons are effective. Keep the sniper rifle at all times.5 stars (One of the Best) - I somehow missed FarCry when it first came out, I am a huge FPS fan and have played all the usual suspects: Doom 3, HL 2, UT 2004, etc. I would say FarCry is on par with Half-Life 2, although HL2 was better in gameplay, graphics and sound - FarCry has a much better ending and is much more diverse in it's options for play. HL2 is like a movie, whereas you play FarCry. I have read many reviews saying the game is unfairly difficult, but I disagree. I would say the term is "realistic", if you walk into a room with an armed assailant knowing you are coming and you get shot before you figure out where its coming from is that truly unrealistic or difficult? I would say that is pretty much realistic and if you want easy shoot em' ups go grab Halo 2. People were also complaining about the save issue when its highly documented that you just need to use the console: ~ and type in save_game 01 or whatever you want to call that slot. Its a great game altogether, but here are some issues in my opinion: the voicing is terrible, the game attempts NOLF level antics but still tries to remain serious and it ends up feeling sloppy sometimes. The beginning sequence is an excellent example, even with the guide write up on the storyline, it still makes no sense and that is how you start the game - confused. The interface is needing work, the weapon slots are backwards - meaning the slots are recorded by the weapons and you reassign the slots to keys not the other way around and the map window is clumsy. The vehicles are too powerful and look cartoonish and drive like remote control cars - they typically have touchy steering and unpredictable handling. They make up for this with their weapons - which once engaged can eliminate an army in seconds. Even with the downsides, at the current price - this is a must for FPS fans. You do need a monster rig, but if you are in the market for this type of game, any newer title will require some serious hardware.5 stars (Excellent Game) - I bought this game for my husband, after reading previous reviews about it, and now my husband won't play any other game. He loves the graphics, and the whole concept of the game.
