Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (Game of the Year) review:5 stars (Clarifying some points...) - Well, I agree with ninety percent of the people here who say that it's a great game... in fact, it's really the only reason to own an xbox. Let's face it, sony and nintendo have the majority of good games. Anyway, let me clarify a few points made by some of the other people-
Long load times: Only when starting a new game or loading a save, either of which takes a little over 60 seconds. In-game load times are brief and rarely more than a second.
Stability issues/freezing: depends on which version of the game you have. The original release of the game will quite literally start locking up about every twenty minutes once you put about 30-50 hours onto a save. This problem was fixed in the GOTY version and I've only had it freeze twice in the countless hours I've logged (and both times were caused by a glitch in one of the assassin guild missions, not from instability issues).
Weak/no plot: baseless, if anything there are too many plots and sub-plots to keep track of, both in the main storyline(s) and among the guild houses. The main storyline starts out a bit slow but is well worth the trouble.
Too much text/extraneous text: it's a motherf***ing rpg, what did you expect?
Imbalanced Character levelling: unfortunately, or fortunately if you like to cheat, the rules that underline the character creation and levelling tends to incourage abuse and the creation of unstoppable power characters. This is not entirely a bad thing but it tends to suck some of the fun out of playing when none of the monsters or brigands in the game can possibly hurt you in any way, also, by the time you reach level 25-40 your character will have become an unstoppable god-like being even without abusing the system. Bethesda has said that they've fixed this problem in the upcoming Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion game.
Insufficient Quest Journal: it COULD use an option to sort by completed/pending quests but it does have the option to search by specific keywords, which works well enough as long as you don't take on too many quests at a time.5 stars (Morrowind-The Greatest RPG of All Time By Far) - One thing about RPG's that I always found distastful is the linear gameplay. Morrowind is my dream come true. You really have to play the game to understand the level of depth and the size of the world. It is mind boggling. One of my favorite parts of the game, aside from the extreme amounts of quests, is all the little extras. I have spent way to much time in this game, beat the main quest and 4 faction quests, but one thing that NEVER gets old is wandering. You can wander for years of your life and still find new things. There are always new mis. quests, caves, people, crypts, and items to explore and find. Take my word for it, don't rent just skip that and buy this wonderful game.5 stars (A MUST-HAVE!!!) - It is the best game I have played in my life! It's an incredible RPG in so many ways! It may not have the good physics of the KOTOR games, you know with the swinging of the lightsabers and everything. But it's so cool and has so much packed into it! For only $20!!! And trust me, it's not one of those games that are cheap for a reason, because this game is definitely worth $60!
OK, I'm writing a review for the Game of the Year Edition of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (they didn't put the III), which is the original version. The GOTY (which, commonly, on the web means Game of the Year Edition, remember that) has two expansions from the original version. I recommend you get that. I have had this game for a couple months now, and it's still not old. It's a kind of game that doesn't end after you finish missions or some quests. There are hundreds of quests, hundreds of armors, weapons, and items, and hundreds of hours of play time. It's also not one of those types of games with nearby boundaries, no, it's a whole world where you can levitate up till you can't see the highest mountains or buildings. You can swim, levitate (like I said), walk, run, faint, go to jail, jump, punch, swing, cast offensive spells, cast spells that can increase stats or change the way you do 8 of the things mentioned before this, and you can do all this (and way more) for as long as you want. Oh, gosh! I just can't write everything about it because that would take hours. Trust me, though, this game is very, very good, OK. YOU MUST GET IT!!!!!
